Wallpaper Day!

So...it was advised that we apply all of our wallpaper and flooring before gluing our house together. We went to Michael's, and, like a happy couple, picked out the most complementary color palette we could find.

The first step was to locate our walls. Looking through our dollhouse kit, we visualized the best we could--at this point, the whole concept of a dollhouse is still a bit abstract and it took some imagination to see how our wallpaper should face. Next, we punched out our walls (front to back), carefully removed the "Discard" pieces, and sanded all of the edges. We used an X-Acto knife to remove some pieces when they proved stubborn:

Next, we traced our walls onto the wallpaper.

Here is an example of a finished cut-out against the wall it will one day paper.

We made sure to carefully cut around the slots that connected the two floors.

Since our house is two stories and we picked different wallpapers for each room, some of our walls will have two papers covering them. The second-story floorboard will cover up the seam. Here are some walls pre-glued.

Next time -- floor staining and gluing the wallpaper!
